Exams (or tests) in a course are created to evaluate what students have learned. Once the answers are collected, the system will grade all the questions it can (for example, essay responses must be graded by the instructor) and will save the grade in the gradebook.
Using different settings, we can use these exams, for example, as self-assessments, review exercises, or quizzes.
Creating an Exam
To create an exam, click the + in the course body and select Create. In the sidebar, locate Assessment and select Exam.
Enter the name of the exam. You will see an area to add questions, and the gear icon to access the exam settings.
At the top right, there is also a dropdown that allows you to show/hide the exam to students as well as set conditions.
An exam cannot be conditioned or marked visible unless it has at least one question added. This is to prevent an empty exam from being displayed to the course students.
The following video provides a general overview of how to create an exam and add questions.
