In addition to the events automatically created for courses, such as due dates, we can manually add events. This action can be performed from any course or from the calendar in the base menu.
We can only create events in calendars for which we have write access. This means:
- For any user, the personal calendar
- For instructors, their personal calendar and that of each course they teach
- For administrators, their personal calendar, that of any course, and the institution calendar
To create an event, click +.
We can create:
- Events
- Schedules
- Office hours (which we can use, for example, as tutoring hours)
When you click any of the three, a panel will open with the event settings, where you can choose its dates, recurrence, description, and location.
If we started creating the event from the base menu, we will need to select under Add my calendar which of the calendars we have access to we want to add this event to.
Give the event a name. Choose the start and end date and time. If the event will last all day, you can check the corresponding box.
If you select Repeat event, you can specify the frequency and number of repetitions by selecting which days of the week it repeats and how many events should be created.
Finish by entering the location, which can be a place, a URL, or both, and save.
If you start creating the event from a course, the calendar to which the event will be added is that course’s calendar, and you will not be able to change this field.
