Your profile allows other users to identify you and learn more information about you. If the administrator permits, you will be able to upload a photo. In some cases, photos are uploaded automatically and users cannot change theirs on this page. In that case, if you want to change your image, it’s best to contact your institution’s support for guidance.

Additionally, your profile lets you personalize your experience on the platform and modify options that can help you in your teaching role: configure language, notifications, and information privacy.

To edit your information, hover over the data you want to edit and click the pencil icon. If you don’t see a pencil, it means that part of the profile is not editable by end users.

• Personal information. In this area, you will see information about yourself, such as your first name, last name, or email address. Also your phone number, education level, gender, pronouns, or even an audio recording of your name pronunciation. Many institutions do not allow editing of some data in this section.
• Privacy settings. These settings indicate who can see your profile data. If you leave the default settings, only users in the same course as you will be able to see your first and last name and little else. If you don’t want others to see your pronouns or name pronunciation, leave those fields empty. Teachers and administrators can see your full profile.
  
• Notifications. You can decide how you want the platform to communicate with you by specifying the frequency, type of message, and channel. You have the option to configure activity streams, email messages, or push notifications on your mobile device (if you have the app installed, of course).
  
  Consider the settings that best fit your profile and find a balance between the information and how and when you receive it. You can find more information about these settings in this article on notification settings.
• Platform language. The default language is the one chosen by your institution. However, if multiple languages are enabled, you can adjust the language to your preference. You can edit and select the language in which you want the platform to be displayed—just click and choose from the list of available languages.
