Once we have the necessary material in the course, especially if we have copied content from past editions or restored a "clean" copy, we will likely need to modify the dates and other details to fit this new edition. To do this, we could access each item one by one and modify whatever is necessary, but that’s tedious, isn’t it? Blackboard has thought of this and created an option to make this task easier: Batch Editing.
To access this option, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the course body and select Batch Edit.
Here you will see a list of all the material added to the course, as well as first access, visibility, due date, and last access date. In the case of folders or modules, you can expand the content by clicking on the V in the corresponding row.
Select the checkboxes of the items to edit, then click on the action to perform at the bottom.
Editing Dates
Click Edit Dates. A window will appear where you can choose how to modify the dates of all selected items.
Keep in mind that if a selected item does not have assigned dates, they will not be added using this method. Here we can only edit dates that are already assigned.
Choose the type of edit to perform from the dropdown.
- Change to a specific date and time allows us to assign whatever date we want. Simply fill in the data after checking the boxes of those you want to modify.
- Change date by number of days lets us move all the dates of the selected items forward or backward in time, for example, 90 days. This can be very useful if we have courses that always start on the 1st of the month, for example.
- Change dates according to course start allows the dates to shift in accordance with the course start date, so if an activity is due 14 days after the course starts, the system will maintain those 14 days. You just need to enter the original course start date and the new one so the system calculates and adjusts the dates according to the new start.
Once finished, press Edit Dates and the changes will be applied.
Editing Visibility
To edit visibility, click Edit Visibility and select Hidden or Visible. Click Save Visibility to finish.
Deleting Items
You can also delete items in batches using this option. Simply click Delete Items and confirm.
