Anonymous grading is an existing grading mode that we can activate for file submission activities in Blackboard. This method allows us to grade students without their personal data, promoting impartiality. Once anonymous grading is activated, no student data can be seen, not even if they have exceptions, until all grades have been published.
This type of grading cannot be used for group submissions or for activities with offline submissions.
You can activate anonymous grading in the activity settings by checking the box Hide student names.
To start grading, just follow the same steps as for a normal activity, always keeping in mind that we will not see who submitted the activity either in the grader or in the gradebook.
Attempts appear as submitted by Anonymous Student along with a submission ID.
Once all submissions have been graded, the grades will remain hidden in the gradebook and will not be used for any calculations until anonymous grading is deactivated. This is done by publishing the grades.
