Once students have completed an exam, Blackboard will automatically grade many of the question types used, such as True/False, Multiple Choice, or Ordering questions. There are other questions, such as essay or short answer questions, that must be reviewed and graded by the instructor.
To review an exam graded by Bb, or to grade those that need it, we will access the exam submissions tab, or from the gradebook, by clicking the corresponding exam in the Graded Items tab, for example. You can also click the column header in Grades and select View Submissions from the menu.
Here we will see the number of submissions sent out of the total, as well as information about the grade release and what type of grading we are using (for example, Grading the last attempt).
In the list, we will see all students (or groups) in the course, the submission status, the grading status, and the grade itself, as well as the submission date. If they have not submitted before the due date, the student's avatar and text will appear in red, indicating that the submission is late.
If we need to locate a specific student, we can start typing their name in the search box to filter. We can also filter by student status and grading status, as well as send a message directly from here to the students we want by simply checking the box in their rows and clicking Send Message.
Reviewing the Answers
To access the answer review, click on the user or group to review. The flexible grading interface will open. In this interface, you will see the list of students in a panel on the left, the grading panel on the right, and the student's attempt in the center. Above, you also see the attempt information, the grade received, and whether it has been published or not.
The < and > arrows allow you to move between students. From the three dots, you can remove a grade override and also delete the attempt.
For each question, you can view the answer chosen by the student and the grade received. If you want to modify it, just click on the grade pill and rewrite the number. To add feedback to a specific question, click on the speech bubble next to the pill.
Once you review the answers given and add or modify the grades, you can add general feedback comments in the panel on the right (you can even record a short video as part of your feedback), and save.
