Assignments are a type of activity that offers students a way to submit a document and/or written text for us to evaluate. It has many configuration options, including the ability to restrict the type of file to be submitted (for example, accepting only PDFs), set a due date, or even notify graders of submissions so they can be graded.
An interesting feature is that these assignments are displayed in the course along with the due date (green before the deadline, red after), and it also shows us as teachers how many submissions have been made.
A student, on the other hand, will see whether they have submitted the activity or not.
Creating an Assignment
To add an assignment, click Add an activity or learning resource and then select Assignment in the Assessment tab.
Fill in the title and description, as well as the activity instructions. Also add a due date and an opening date. If you don’t want to set a due date, you can disable it (by unchecking the corresponding box), creating an activity that can be submitted at any time.
Configure the rest of the available options and save to continue. You can configure assignments as individual or group work, as well as grade using numbers, rubrics, and other advanced grading types.
