To use custom certificates in our course, we can always select one of the templates created from administration to ensure that the format and style are consistent with our institution.
But there is also the possibility of designing a certificate from scratch. Let's design a certificate for our course. Remember that there are countless options and it's time to unleash your creative side, but without losing sight of the purpose of this resource.
First, add the Custom Certificate resource to your course. In the gear icon, go to Edit certificate.
Shaping the Certificate
After naming the certificate, you simply need to decide what appearance you want the document to have and set its dimensions.
By default, the A4 format in portrait mode appears. Change the Width and Height values if you want it in landscape.
You can also set margins. Make as many tests as you want until it suits your preferences.
Adding the Necessary Elements
Next, you should add each of the components that make up your certificate. The most common and essential are:
Variables:
- Student name: Displays the first and last name of the user who clicks to download the certificate.
- Course name: Automatically adds the name of the course in question.
- Date: You can select which date you want it to show (the current date, course end date, etc.)
- Code: Displays a unique verification code for each certificate.
Absolutes:
- Text: Used to add standard text e.g.: "... has met the course objectives..."
- Image or Background Image: Ideal to give a visual and quality look to the certificate.
- Digital signature: Adds a signature to your certificate.
You can add more by selecting from the dropdown and clicking Add element. If you want a second page, you can start designing it after clicking Add another page to the certificate.
Positioning the Elements
By clicking Change the position of the elements, you will preview the certificate. Use the mouse to move and arrange them on the canvas.
Also, by double-clicking on each element you can edit them. For example, change color, size, or font in text fields.
Finally, save the changes and try downloading your certificate.
Here we show you an example:
... and if you prefer to use the template....
If you prefer to use a predefined template by the administrator, just choose it from the dropdown and click Load. This action will delete all the options you chose and load that template for you.... but once loaded, you could continue modifying it to create your certificate.
