What if we could automate certain functions in a course, such as sending messages to students if they do not log in, or adding them to a certain work group when they have completed a previous activity?
PLD allows us to create rules to perform certain tasks when certain conditions are met.
This tool allows us to create learning paths within a course and perform certain actions automatically based on rules. These rules help us manage the course efficiently while encouraging students not to fall behind.
Some examples of what can be done include sending congratulatory messages for an excellent grade or notifying the course instructor of a grade that does not meet a threshold.
For proper operation, the first thing is to ensure that Completion Tracking is enabled.
The Three Parts of a Rule
To create rules, we need to understand how they work. A rule consists of three elements:
Event, which triggers the rule.
Conditions, which determine whether an action will be taken once an event occurs. If no conditions are specified, the action will always execute when the rule is triggered.
- Actions, which occur when a rule is triggered and the conditions are met.
