Institutional hierarchy nodes can be easily moved. Go to Admin Panel > Communities > Institutional Hierarchy and click on the node or subnode you want to move. 

Open the contextual menu next to the name and select Move.

In the popup that will open, search for the node you want to act as the parent for this one and select it. By clicking Submit the node will be moved to its new position.
