The Content Collection is a file repository integrated into Blackboard, which also allows us to share and publish institutional files, offer virtual hard drives for users, assign permissions by role and user to different folders, manage document versions, and even use workflows to control the uploading and publishing of these files.
The Content Collection is available from Tools in the base navigation if enabled by the administrator. If not, only the administrator can access it from Admin Panel > Content Management > Manage Content.
Each of the main folders has a different purpose.
- courses contains everything uploaded by instructors and other similar roles to the courses as course material.
- institution is intended to store institutional documents, manage those documents, and allow workflows for uploading and publishing. Documents here can be marked as public, and can be added to courses if read access is allowed for system users.
- internal contains all the files necessary for Blackboard to function, and we recommend not editing, moving, or deleting anything in this directory. Within it, we will only focus on two folders: autoArchives, which stores automatic backups made by Blackboard, and logs, which contains system logs organized by years, months, days, and hours. Automatic backups are deleted every 30 days (you can see more information about them in this article), and you can delete the logs yourself without problems.
- library is intended to function as a library of copyrighted documents that can be borrowed.
- orgs is the same as courses, but for organizations.
- users is used in the case of enabling virtual hard drives for users. Each user will have a folder where they can upload files, always controllable by role and with a certain assigned quota.
