Blackboard Home is an LTI tool that allows us to review platform usage data, such as space used, active users, or contractual limits.
We can access it from Admin Panel > Tools and Utilities > Blackboard Home.
When Blackboard Home loads, you will see the list of environments associated with your account. Generally, these will be two: test and production, but if you have a staging environment it will also appear here.
Relevant Information
Click Relevant Information to review your storage, users, logins, and courses data.
You can select which instance or instances you want to view in the chart from the dropdown, as well as adjust the chart to stack data, and choose how often and from when you want to see the data. In those same controls, you can also download a PDF with the data to save.
Storage
For storage, you will see the environment data in a time graph, with the peak indicated above. By hovering the mouse over the graph, you can see the value at each point.
Below, you will see the space usage percentage by file type and the file count by type.
Users
In this sub-tab, you will see available and active users. Remember that active users are the ones that count against your license.
Logins
In this tab, you will see the number of unique logins for 30, 90, and 180 days, as well as the total number of successful logins. The 90-day logins give us a clear view of who is accessing the environment. If this number and the number of active users differ greatly, it's time to do some cleanup: you have many active users counting toward your license who are not accessing the system and could probably be deactivated.
Courses
This tab will show you the number of original, ultra, and undecided courses you have in your environment, as well as the percentage of active and total courses for each experience.
Other Options
In the Contractual Rights tab, you will be able to see the occupied vs. contracted space, as well as your contractual limits in a table, showing users, TB, and also start and end dates.
In Status you can see a series of environment health parameters, such as Apdex, uptime in the last 30 days, or requests per minute received, among other things.
