To create an institutional survey, access the institutional surveys area from the main navigation under Tools or from Admin Panel > Tools > Institutional Surveys. You will see a list of surveys that have already been created in a table.
You can edit or modify surveys from each survey’s contextual menu, as well as preview them or assign an owner.
Creating a survey
To add a new survey, click Create Survey. Add a name and description, and select Prohibit Backtracking if you want to prevent users from modifying responses after moving past a question.
On the next screen, design the survey. Here you can add questions as well as visual elements, such as page or section breaks, or an instruction block.
This survey design screen can also be accessed by clicking Survey Design in the drop-down menu.
Adding questions
Questions in an institutional survey can be:
- Two mutually exclusive options (such as True / False or Yes / No)
- Likert scale (such as Strongly agree / Agree / Disagree / Strongly disagree)
- Matrix (such as Daily / Weekly / Every two weeks / Monthly)
- Multiple options (multiple-choice question with several answers, one is selected)
- Free entry (essay-type question with a text box for writing)
To add a question, click Create Question and choose the type. Complete the required information on the next screen. Note that you can mark a question as required. Once they have been added, you can reorder the questions within sections or pages. To reorder items, drag them to their new position after clicking them.
Once the survey has been created, you will need to create response periods so that it can be deployed and answered by the users who receive it.
