The standard language pack can be edited from Admin Panel > Tools and Utilities > Language Packs. There, you will see a list of all installed languages, and you can configure which ones are available for the system and designate the system's default language.
The language pack has two distinct parts:
- The part corresponding to Original, which we do not recommend editing due to the complexity of the editing process and, especially, its maintenance.
- The part corresponding to Ultra, which is easy to edit and, unlike the previous part, is updated with platform updates.
Creating the editable package
Let us proceed to edit the part corresponding to Ultra.
For each language on the platform, there will be two columns, one for each of the parts of the package mentioned above. For the Ultra part, the column will show one of these three values: Edit, Create, or Green check mark.
To edit, it must appear as a link (the top two options). If you see Create or Edit, click the word. If you see the green check mark, we will need to open the context menu for the language we want to edit and click Manage.
On that page, locate Ultra Language Pack and click Create Ultra Custom Locale. You can also use the drop-down menu to use an already edited Ultra package.
In the modal window that appears, select the locale you will use as the basis. In general, it will be the same as the language you are editing.
Click Save to return to the previous page. You should now see Edit in the Ultra column for the language you want to edit.
Editing the package
Click Edit in the list to access the language editor. A list of text strings will appear on the screen, with the original on the left and the editable version on the right. The easiest way is to search for the text (or part of it) and have Ultra display the strings that contain it. Edit the text in the boxes on the right and save.
The changes will take approximately 15 minutes to become visible in the environment.
These changes can even be made to the standard language pack; you do not need to create a custom package.
You can also export and import changes between environments using the buttons in the upper-right corner.
