The login page can be modified to adapt it to our institution. This page is uploaded as part of the creation of a brand under Administrator Panel > The Ultra experience is here > Brands > Brand name, once we have created it. This login page must be built locally, using a text editor, for example.
At this point, it is important that the editing be done by someone with knowledge of HTML and CSS. The first step is to download the login page template from the same location. It will be a .jsp file, which should be opened in the text editor.
We will see that, apart from the typical HTML code found on any page, there are pieces of code that must be kept on our customized login page so that login to Blackboard works correctly.
The entire upper section of the file must be kept as is.
<%@ include file="/webapis/ui/doctype.jspf" %>
<%@ page import="blackboard.servlet.util.CourseCatalogUtil" %>
<%@ taglib uri="/bbNG" prefix="bbNG" %>
<%@ taglib uri="/loginUI" prefix="loginUI" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt" prefix="fmt"%>
<c:set var="productName" value="${ loginUI:getProductName() }" />
<fmt:message var="viewCourseCatalogLinkText" key="gatewayButtons.view.course.catalog" bundle="${bundles.tags}"/>
<bbNG:genericPage authentication="N" wrapper="false" onLoad="loadLoginPage()" bodyClass="bb-login hide-focus-outline" globalNavigation="false" skipCoreCss="true" allowScale="true">
<bbNG:cssFile href="/ui-ultra/css/ultra.css" />
<bbNG:jsFile href="/ui-ultra/js/hide-focus-outline.js" />
<bbNG:jsFile href="/ui-ultra/js/login-page.js" />
<bbNG:jsBlock>
<script type="text/javascript">
function loadLoginPage() {
if(document.forms.login.user_id != undefined)
{
verify_username_password(document.forms.login);
}
setTimeout("triggerScreenreaderAlert()", 500);
}
function triggerScreenreaderAlert() {
if (document.getElementById('loginErrorMessage')) {
$('loginErrorMessage').update($('loginErrorMessage').innerHTML);
}
}
</script>
</bbNG:jsBlock>
<%@ include file="/webapis/ui/cookie-disclosure-login.jspf"%><loginUI:localePicker />: Language selector
<loginUI:errorMessage />: Error messages (for example, “incorrect username or password”)
<loginUI:loginForm />: The login form itself—that is, labels, username and password fields, the login button, SAML login buttons, and the “forgot your password” link.
<loginUI:gatewayButtons />: Buttons such as Access Course Catalog, log in as a guest, etc., which can be controlled from the Administrator Panel
<loginUI:systemAnnouncements maxItems="5" />: System announcements published by the administrator will appear wherever we place this string
<bbNG:copyright />: Designates the location where the Blackboard copyright notice will appear
</bbNG:genericPage>: This will be the penultimate line of the file, with the last line being a blank line.
Once we have finished adding all the necessary elements to login.jsp (we can add text, links, images—whatever we want), we will save it and upload it to Blackboard. Note that if a page has already been uploaded, you must delete it first.
If you are creating a secondary brand and do not see a way to upload the login page, you may need to select the Customize checkbox to allow the login page for this brand to differ from the one specified for the default brand.
