Open LMS allows us to group users by Cohorts to easily perform bulk operations, such as enrolling users in courses. In this article, you can learn what cohorts are and what they are used for.
Assigning users to cohorts
After creating the corresponding cohorts, you can assign them to users when you perform bulk uploads using the option Site administration > Users > Upload users.
Here is an example of the template used. You would need to add the column cohort1 and the corresponding IDs for each one:
username,password,email,firstname,lastname,city,cohort1
alumno001,MyPass#1,ejemplo01@ejemplo.com,Jose,Rodríguez,Madrid,Empresa1
alumno002,MyPass#2,ejemplo02@ejemplo.com,Pedro,Vargas,Madrid,Empresa1
alumno003,MyPass#3,ejemplo03@ejemplo.com,Luís,Fernández,Madrid,Empresa1
alumno004,MyPass#4,ejemplo04@ejemplo.com,Eduardo,Sánchez,Madrid,Empresa1
alumno005,MyPass#5,ejemplo05@ejemplo.com,Cristina,Martín,Madrid,Empresa1
alumno006,MyPass#6,ejemplo06@ejemplo.com,Gabriela,Pérez,Madrid,Empresa1Using cohorts to perform bulk enrollments
From Course administration > Users > Enrolled users > Enroll users, you can directly select the corresponding cohort to enroll the users who belong to it.
You also have the option to add the enrollment method Synchronize cohorts for courses. This way, if you add a new user to a cohort, they will be automatically enrolled in the course, and conversely, if you remove them, they will be unenrolled from all courses assigned to that cohort.
