Go to the settings at Admin Panel > Integrations > Authentication and select SAML Configuration from the contextual menu of the integration you want to work with. We will simply check what information our Blackboard displays from all the data it receives from the Identity Provider (IdP), and choose the data we want through this attribute assignment.
Let's say our IdP is Azure Active Directory. In this case, if we enable the option Enable JIT Provisioning (Updates existing accounts or creates new ones according to the SAML response), by default when logging into Blackboard, it would create the user on the fly showing the user's ID in AAD as the First and Last Name.
For the First and Last Name of each user to appear correctly, we would need to copy and paste the attribute URI in question into the corresponding field under the Assign SAML Attributes section, at the bottom of the page. We can easily get this data from the XML we imported from the IdP.
Open the XML you created for the integration and locate the fields you want to assign, then replace the value in the corresponding box with the one defined in the XML.
Once all the necessary values have been changed, save the configuration.
