OpenLMS allows us to add external tools to expand the system's functionality with, for example, videoconferencing tools, video, or specific applications. These tools are configured at the system level using the LTI standard and can then be enabled in courses for use.
Adding an LTI tool to the system
Go to Site administration > Plugins > Activity modules > External tool and click Manage tools.
On that page, we can add a new LTI tool and review those already added, being able to edit or delete them by clicking the gear or the trash can for each one:
Let's proceed to add an LTI tool. Paste in the box the URL of the tool you want to add and click Add LTI advantage or Add legacy LTI depending on whether the tool you are adding is LTI 1.3 or 1.1. This URL must be provided by the tool provider.
Fill in the name with how you want the tool to appear to users, and add the key and secret, which you should have received, like the URL, from the tool provider.
Review the rest of the options and configure according to what the provider instructs.
If you choose Show in activity chooser as a preconfigured tool, users will be able to see it in courses alongside other activities, with the logo you choose on this page.
Save to finish.
You can allow or prohibit users from adding LTI tools to their courses by managing the permissions for the roles mod/lti:addinstance and mod/lti:addcoursetool.
