Course question banks allow us to organize test questions into groups, manage metadata on them (with tags), and deploy them across multiple tests, even export and copy to other courses.
You will find your course's question banks under Details and Actions > Manage Question Banks.
You will see the banks already added to the course listed; access them by clicking on their name. If you have many banks, you can use the search to locate the one you want.
Inside each bank, you will see the list of questions added to it and filters that help us search for questions within the bank. This will be extremely useful when adding questions from the bank to an exam.
Filtering questions
You can filter by multiple criteria:
- Search for a specific word
- Only questions of certain types (for example, True/False)
- Questions with certain tags (for example, Topic 3 or Easy)
You can view the full question by clicking on the V, and edit questions from the ... icon for each of them.
You can add new questions to the bank at any time.
Creating a question bank
Click on the + on the banks page and press New in the menu that opens. Assign a name and a description to the bank if you want.
It’s ready for you to add questions.
Generating a question bank with AI
In the + menu, click Generate Automatically to access the AI question generator.
Select which course documents will inspire these questions, write your prompt if you wish, and choose other options such as the type, quantity, and complexity of the generated questions. Here is an article with the full process and options.
Copying a question bank
You can copy a question bank from another course using the steps to copy items, selecting the banks you want to copy.
Importing a question bank
If you have question banks created in Blackboard and downloaded as a zip file, you can import them into your course.
Click the + and select Import from File or Import from QTI 2.1 Package if you have questions in that format.
Select the zip file from your computer and upload it. Depending on the number of questions contained, the upload will take more or less time. Once finished, you will be informed of the import result (for example, if any question was not imported).
Remember that Ultra does not support the same question types as Original, and some questions will simply not be imported because that question type does not exist in Ultra.
You can see the question types compatible with Ultra here
