Periods or terms are used to organize courses in the LMS. Typically, they reflect time periods (years, semesters) and contain all the courses offered during that period, although we can use any naming convention and time span we want for them. We can even create periods that are not limited by time.
One of the advantages of organizing courses by periods is being able to open and close courses to students depending on the availability of the period they belong to.
We can create multiple periods, as many as we need. Periods can also be nested, so an annual period can have two semesters which in turn can contain other periods. This helps us organize everything into blocks of time.
In the case of using nested periods, the child periods cannot extend beyond the dates assigned to the parent period.
Once we have created the necessary periods, we will proceed to assign courses to the periods.
To see which courses are assigned to a specific period, you can click on the contextual menu and select View Courses or click on the number in the Courses column.
